In short

ChatGPT Ads opened to advertisers on 9 February 2026, and as of 25 September 2026 Poland is on OpenAI’s list of 63 eligible advertiser countries, while Ukraine is not. To run them you verify a Polish or other EU legal entity (sp. z o.o. or JDG), after which the account’s country, billing currency and time zone are locked for good.

Entry costs are modest: a minimum of $25 a day, roughly 100 zł, with a recommended starting bid of $3 to $5. Clicks are rarer than in Google Search: one reported case put ChatGPT CTR at 0.91% against a 6.4% Google Search benchmark, though that is a single advertiser’s result, not a platform average. The clicks that do arrive come after a conversation, so they tend to be warmer. The sensible path for most Polish companies is to switch on Microsoft AI Max first, then run a 30-day ChatGPT Ads test on one offer, and measure assisted conversions rather than raw traffic.

Why Poland is in a better position than most of the region

OpenAI announced on 18 August 2026 that ChatGPT Ads had expanded to 31 European countries, with the rollout starting 24 August 2026 and self-serve access following in early September 2026. As of 25 September 2026, OpenAI’s help center lists 63 countries as available for self-serve advertisers, including Poland and the rest of the EU. Ukraine is not on that list.

This matters for two groups. Polish businesses have a channel that many competitors in the wider region still cannot legally enter. And Ukrainian-owned companies operating in Poland, of which there are many in Warsaw, Kraków and Wrocław, can advertise through their Polish entity, provided the entity itself, not the founder’s Ukrainian company, is the verified advertiser.

Note also what is not available. Perplexity ended its advertising program, according to Financial Times reporting from February 2026, with no plans to bring it back, so if someone offers you “Perplexity ads”, walk away. Google does not sell placements inside AI Mode or AI Overviews separately: ads from existing Search, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns become eligible automatically, and advertisers cannot target or opt out of that placement on its own.

What ChatGPT Ads actually are

Ads in ChatGPT appear as sponsored answers or cards inside the conversation, clearly labelled as advertising. Targeting works by conversation topic and user intent, not by bidding on keywords in the classic Google sense. You describe whom you want to reach and in which contexts, and the system decides when a dialogue matches.

A timeline you can quote to your board:

One more product detail. On 24 March 2026, OpenAI retired the initial version of ChatGPT Instant Checkout and shifted back toward “discover in chat, transact on site”: the user finds you in the conversation and buys on your website. For e-commerce this means your product feed standards, the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) from Stripe, OpenAI and Meta, and the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) from Google, matter as much as the ad itself, along with your own checkout.

What it costs, in PLN

All PLN figures below are approximations at 1 USD ≈ 4 zł. The account bills in the currency you lock at verification.

ItemUSD (source figure)Approx. PLN
Minimum daily budget$25/day~100 zł/day
Minimum 30-day test$750~3 000 zł
Recommended starting bid$3–5~12–20 zł
Agency management fee (market range)15–25% of ad spendod 15% budżetu
AI visibility audit, one-off (market range)$1 500–7 500od 6 000 zł

OpenAI’s help center recommends that starting bid and minimum daily budget for US advertisers, and Polish accounts start from the same baseline. One reported case is the number that surprises people: a March 2026 Campaign report, citing search intelligence firm Adthena, found a single advertiser’s ChatGPT campaign at a 0.91% click-through rate against a 6.4% benchmark for Google Search ads in the same sector, a single client’s result rather than a platform average. Fewer clicks per thousand impressions in that case, but each click comes from someone who has just spent several turns describing their problem to an assistant. That is why a lower CTR does not necessarily mean a worse channel, and why the test plan below measures conversions rather than traffic.

Published cases point the same way: Opollo reports 14.2% conversion from AI-referred visitors against 2.8% for Google organic traffic, across 312 B2B technology firms; Semrush found the average AI search visitor to be 4.4 times as valuable as the average organic visitor; and Shopify’s Q1 2026 merchant data shows AI-referred shoppers converting nearly 50% higher than organic search shoppers on product pages.

Who it fits in Poland

Five segments where the maths works today:

  1. Aesthetic medicine clinics. High ticket, a long research phase, and patients increasingly ask assistants “which clinic in Warsaw does X and what does it cost”.
  2. HoReCa. Restaurants, hotels and event venues, especially in Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk and Wrocław, where “where should we eat tonight” conversations happen in chat. Good for premium and group bookings, less so for a single lunch.
  3. E-commerce with a considered purchase. Furniture, electronics, sports gear, premium cosmetics: anything the buyer compares in a dialogue before buying.
  4. B2B services. Accounting, legal, IT outsourcing, logistics. Long sales cycles and expensive leads are exactly where a warmer click pays back a higher CPC.
  5. Ukrainian-owned businesses in Poland. Verified through the Polish entity, they can reach both Polish- and Ukrainian-speaking users, and conversation-based targeting handles the language mix better than keyword lists do.

Who should wait: businesses whose average order is worth less than a handful of clicks, purely local services with nothing to differentiate them, and anyone without a working website. Remember: transact on site.

Step zero: switch on Microsoft AI Max first

Before ChatGPT Ads, do the cheaper thing. Microsoft AI Max is an optional setting inside your existing Search campaigns that Microsoft rolled out globally to all advertiser accounts by August 2026. It is the simplest entry: no new entity verification, no new platform, no new billing.

It makes your ads eligible for more complex, conversational searches on Bing and Copilot, a useful signal for how your customers phrase their problems to an AI, though Microsoft has not said advertisers see the full text of those queries. It is the recommended first step for any market, including Ukraine, where ChatGPT Ads are not available at all. If AI Max produces nothing after a month, that is useful information before you spend on ChatGPT Ads. See the AI advertising service page for how the two channels are usually sequenced.

Setting up the account: entity, verification, PLN lock

There is no agency manager account in ChatGPT Ads. That single fact shapes the whole setup.

  1. The advertiser verifies its own legal entity. For Poland that means a sp. z o.o. or a JDG (jednoosobowa działalność gospodarcza) with its registration data.
  2. Country, billing currency and time zone are fixed at verification and cannot be changed later. Choose PLN if your reporting and finance run in złoty. Choose EUR only if you deliberately run a multi-market account from Poland and accept the conversion on every invoice.
  3. New accounts can initially advertise only in their home country. Other supported countries open automatically once identity verification is approved and the account reaches a required spend threshold in the home country; OpenAI does not publish that amount. Plan your first month around Poland alone.
  4. The agency is invited into the account as a user. Your data, your billing and your history stay with you. If you change agencies, you revoke one user and add another.
  5. Prepare landing pages before verification is finished. Approval time varies, and the site work should not wait for it.

For Ukrainian companies without a Polish entity, the two realistic routes are a partner entity in Poland or another EU country, or Microsoft AI Max from the existing Ukrainian Microsoft Ads account.

A 30-day test plan

WeekWhat happensOutput
0 (prep)AI Max on; one landing page per offer; conversion tracking; ChatGPT Ads verificationaccount live, tracking verified
1One offer, one audience, minimum budget (~100 zł/day)first impressions, CTR baseline
2Second angle for the same offer (a different conversation context)which contexts convert
3Scale the winner, pause the losercost per lead, lead quality from sales
4Cross-read with AI Max query data and assisted conversions in analyticsgo / no-go decision

Budget for the test: from about 3 000 zł of media (the $25/day minimum over 30 days) plus production of two or three landing page variants and creatives. Do not run three offers at once at minimum budget; you will learn nothing about any of them.

How to measure results

Three rules:

  • Measure assisted conversions and leads, not sessions. ChatGPT often names a brand in a conversation without a link, so direct and branded traffic rise before “ChatGPT referrals” do.
  • Compare conversion rate, not CTR, against Google Search. AI traffic converts several times better than organic, as the Semrush and Opollo figures above show, because the visitor arrives after a dialogue, not after a headline.
  • Set a decision threshold before week 1. For example: cost per qualified lead no worse than 1.5 times your Google Search benchmark. Write it down and hold to it.

6 mistakes Polish advertisers make in the first month

  1. Verifying the wrong entity. The founder’s Ukrainian LLC or a personal account cannot be fixed afterwards; the lock is permanent.
  2. Locking the wrong currency. EUR looks international; then finance asks why every invoice needs converting.
  3. Skipping AI Max. It costs almost nothing and hands you a free signal for the query language your customers use.
  4. Judging by CTR. 0.91% is not unusual here. Judge by lead quality.
  5. Sending traffic to the home page. “Transact on site” only works if the page answers the exact question from the conversation.
  6. Buying “Perplexity ads” or a promised placement in ChatGPT answers. The first no longer exists; the second nobody can deliver.

Working with MOVE Warsaw

MOVE Agency has run performance and content for clinics, HoReCa, e-commerce and B2B since long before AI ads existed, and since September 2026 has a team in Warsaw. That team does two things that are hard to buy separately: on-site production (video, photo, landing pages in Polish) and AI advertising set-up across ChatGPT Ads, Microsoft AI Max and Google AI Max, with GEO as an add-on to your existing SEO.

Pricing for the Polish market: AI visibility audit od 6 000 zł, campaign management od 15% budżetu. Nobody can promise positions in ChatGPT answers, so contracts fix share of voice and assisted conversions instead.

If you want to know whether your business is a fit for a 30-day test, start with an audit. The scope is on the AI advertising page, and you can book an AI visibility audit via the contact page. The audit tells you, in numbers, whether to spend the first 3 000 zł on ChatGPT Ads or put it into AI Max and GEO first. Questions before booking: write to contact and the Warsaw team will reply in Polish, English or Ukrainian.

Frequently asked questions

Can a company registered in Poland advertise in ChatGPT?
Yes. As of 25 September 2026, OpenAI's help center lists 63 countries as available for self-serve advertisers, and Poland is one of them; Ukraine is not on the list. You verify your own legal entity (sp. z o.o. or JDG) in the self-serve account at ads.openai.com; the country, billing currency and time zone are then fixed permanently.
How much does ChatGPT advertising cost in Poland?
OpenAI's help center recommends a minimum budget of $25 a day, roughly 100 zł, and a starting bid of $3 to $5, about 12 to 20 zł, at an approximate rate of 1 USD ≈ 4 zł. A minimum 30-day test therefore starts at around 3 000 zł of media spend.
Can a Ukrainian business advertise in ChatGPT?
Not directly: Ukraine is not on the advertiser list. The two realistic routes are a Polish or other EU legal entity that verifies the account, or Microsoft AI Max, which works from an existing Microsoft Ads account in any market, including Ukraine.
Can an agency manage my ChatGPT Ads account?
Yes, but only as a user inside your account. There is no agency manager account in ChatGPT Ads. Your company verifies the entity, owns the billing and the data, and invites the agency in. If you change agencies, you revoke one user and add another.
Why is the CTR in ChatGPT so much lower than in Google?
Because the user is in the middle of a conversation, not scanning a results page. One case reported by Campaign in March 2026, citing search intelligence firm Adthena, saw a 0.91% click-through rate for a ChatGPT campaign against a 6.4% benchmark for Google Search ads in the same sector: a single client's result, not a platform-wide average. Still, the click arrives after the user has described their problem in detail, so it tends to be warmer. Judge the channel by conversion rate and cost per qualified lead, not by CTR.
